Complaint made to Cork City Council about Confirmation party held in marquee

A COMPLAINT has been made to Cork City Council following a big social gathering in a marquee in a northside estate on over the weekend.

The marquee was erected in the Gurranabraher area of the city on Friday for a Confirmation party on Saturday.

Video footage from the gathering has been shared on social media.

Witnesses said the party continued all day on Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday morning.

The marquee was dismantled yesterday.

One neighbour said she had to take a sleeping tablet to help her sleep through the noise.

She said people were reluctant to call gardaí to the scene.

Independent councillor Ken O'Flynn said he has made a formal complaint to Cork City Council about the incident.

A garda spokesman said gardaí had been called out to a separate gathering in the Commons Road area at around 11pm on Saturday night after receiving a complaint about a house party.

He said gardaí gave advice about Covid-19 public health guidelines.
