Aer Lingus to drop Cork to Munich flight

AER Lingus is dropping their weekly Cork to Munich flight from their summer schedule with the final flight departing on March 31.

Aer Lingus said the decision was taken to allocate the flight's capacity to other Cork routes where there is greater demand such as Cork to Heathrow and sun destinations.

Figures for January to September 2017 show that more than 14,700 passengers used the service to and from Munich.

"The Cork to Munich service will operate until the end of March but will not form part of our summer schedule," an Aer Lingus spokesperson said.

"The capacity has been allocated to other Cork routes for which there is more demand. This summer we expand the Cork to Heathrow route as well as popular sun-routes to Malaga, Alicante and Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).

Aer Lingus said they will adding an extra 8,000 seats on flights from Cork this summer compared to summer 2017.

"We have grown our network and seat capacity from Cork airport steadily for the past five years and are Cork’s largest airline operator serving 23 routes to the UK and Europe," the spokesperson added.
