Will you be watching? Cork's Roy Keane becomes subject on Mastermind

He may have enjoyed an illustrious soccer career, and now carved out a reputation as one of the finest pundits in the game, but Cork sporting hero Roy Keane has finally made it on to... Mastermind.

The former Manchester United and Ireland skipper is among the specialist subjects chosen by the first batch of contestants as a new series of the TV quiz starts on BBC2 on Monday at 7.30pm.

How well will the Keano fan have swotted up on the Mayfield icon?

The other specialist subjects in the episode, as Clive Myrie (a Manchester City fan, incidentally) returns to host the quiz with the famous black chair, are 15th-century king Edward IV; the band Depeche Mode; and the films of Yorgos Lanthimos.

The quartet of hopefuls then has to demonstrate the extent of their general knowledge before the winner is decided to go on the next round.

Mastermind began on BBC way back in 1972, when Keane was a mere one-year-old.
