TV sport round-up: Rebels face Tipp, and world snooker begins

Cork and Tipperary meet in Thurles as the All-Ireland series begins

After a sore defeat in the Allianz League final, Cork will be aiming to steady the ship as they launch their Munster Senior Hurling Championship campaign this weekend.

The Rebels start off the round robin format with a trip to Thurles to face old foe Tipperary, and it’s live on RTÉ2 on Sunday at 4pm.

Earlier that day, you can see Clare v Waterford in the hurling on RTÉ2 at 2pm.

Right on cue for sports fans... the World Snooker Championships begin on Saturday, with coverage starting on BBC2 at 10am.

Hazel Irvine is at the Crucible as the marquee event breaks off at the iconic Sheffield venue for the 50th time.

As is customary, defending champion Zhao Xintong, who beat Mark Williams 18-12 in last year’s final to become the first Asian player to lift the World Championship trophy, will get proceedings under way by taking on a qualifier.

In the Women’s Six Nations rugby, Ireland’s clash at home to Italy is on Virgin Media 1 on Saturday at 5.40pm.

Before that, you can see Scotland v England on Virgin Media 2 at 1.30pm and Wales v France on the RTÉ Player at 3.35pm.

The Premier League action kicks off with Brentford v Fulham on TNT Sports at Saturday at 12.30pm, then Leeds United v Wolves on Premier Sports at 3pm.

Sky then shows Tottenham v Brighton at 5.30pm and Chelsea v Manchester United at 8pm.

The three 2pm games on Sky on Sunday are the Merseyside derby, Everton v Liverpool, Aston Villa v Sunderland, and Nottingham Forest v Burnley.

The table-topping clash between Manchester City and Arsenal - billed as a title showdown - is on Sky at 4.30pm.

The channel then shows Crystal Palace v West Ham on Monday at 8pm.

Celtic v St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final is on Premier Sports on Sunday at 2pm.

Benetton v Munster in the URC is on TG4 on Saturday at 7.45pm.
