The beautiful West Cork harbour village of Courtmacsherry is in the spotlight on RTÉ1 next week.

The episode of Nationwide on Wednesday at 7pm pays a visit to explore the coastal spot and meet its residents, who take great pride in their community and its rich history.

Presenter Anne Cassin also hears about their hopes for its continued development in the years ahead.

We find the people of Courtmacsherry are celebrating the success of their community-owned and community-run shop, which marks ten years in operation this year.

Cassin hears how this local enterprise has become so successful and profitable that it now reinvests funds back into local initiatives.

She also visits Courtmacsherry RNLI, which was established in 1825, and heads out onto the water on a wildlife tour along the West Cork coast with Atlantic Whale & Wildlife Tours.
