Cork couple Gillian O’Sullivan and Micheal McCarthy matched on Tinder back in 2016 - and last month were joined by their closest friends and family as they tied the knot.

The couple, who continue to live in Cork, have two sons, Kai and Jace.

Gillian’s sisters were by her side as bridesmaids on the day.

Kai was actually present when his mum and dad got engaged at home back in September, 2022.

Nine years after they first met, the couple had a civil wedding ceremony at the Cork International Hotel on August 2.

Both boys played important roles in the wedding day.

“We had a lovely, short, intimate ceremony, full of love and laughter,” the couple said.

They also took time at the ceremony to remember their loved ones who are no longer with them.

Gillian and Michael were supported on the day by Gillian’s sisters Leanne and Eva, who were bridesmaids, best man Cal, and groomsman David.

The bride wore a full length gown featuring intricate beading which she paired with a cathedral length veil.

Gillian’s gown was from Virginia’s Bridal Boutique in Limerick.

“It was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love,” Gillian said.

After the ceremony, the couple held a reception for their guests at the hotel.

The bride’s cousin, Kelvin Long Music, together with his friend Lauren Fitz on sax, entertained guests with their “amazing talent”.

“They made the wedding with their performance,” the couple said.

The bride and groom were joined by their sons Kai and Jace for their first dance - a Cork classic, After All by The Frank And Walters.

Gillian and Michael had high praise for the team at the Cork International Hotel.

“The hotel couldn’t have done any more for us on our special day. The events team are amazing at their job,” they said.
