Laura Froggatt, from the Lough, and James Golden, from Monkstown, first met officially online in 2018.

However, as Laura went to Scoil Mhuire and James to Christians, the couple said they knew of each other long before then.

Within weeks of becoming an item, James met Laura’s family when the couple attended her grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary celebrations at the Hayfield Manor.

The couple returned to the hotel on their own fifth anniversary in May, 2023, when James proposed to Laura.

They were wed on May 2, 2025- on the very same weekend of their anniversary, with the festivities spread across three days.

“We went back to the scene of the crime for our rehearsal dinner the night before the big day. We had a run through of the ceremony in the Honan Chapel, UCC, with our priest Fr Brian Nolan, along with our immediate family and friends.

“Once the rehearsal ended, we headed to Hayfield Manor for a drinks reception in the sun followed by a gorgeous private meal in the library,” the couple said.

They were married at the Honan Chapel at UCC the following day.

The bride’s gown was from Cinderella’s Closet.

Her bouquet featured a very special ‘something blue’. “On my flowers, you can spot a miraculous medal which was gifted to me by my friend, Sister Faustina in the Poor Clares in Cork,” Laura said.

Laura’s bridesmaids were Elaine O’Sullivan (Maid of Honour), Aileen Coughlan McCarthy, Yara Haroun, and Joanna and Olivia Golden. Their gowns were from Folkster.

James’ suit was from Red Church. He was supported on the day by his best man Gary Hartnett and groomsmen Luke O’Mahony, Sean Mulligan, Ger McCann and Freddie Froggatt. The groomsmen suits were from Morleys.

“The ceremony was beautiful, it was filled with laughter, tears and happiness,” the couple said.

“Fr Brian did an excellent job of making a ceremony that captured the whole audience.”

After the wedding, the couple held a reception for their guests at the Castlemartyr Resort and, the following day, they hosted a gathering at The Hunted Hog in the village.

Looking back at the celebrations, the couple said one of the highlights was their drinks reception in the sunshine after their ceremony.

“This was by far one of our favourite moments in the day, with the music, the sun, all our friends and of course a few Aperols and Margaritas.”
