Laura Goggin, from Schull, and Jack Williams, from Clonakilty, met the old-fashioned way- on a night out in Skibbereen almost eight years ago.

Laura, who works at Bank of Ireland in Clonakilty, and Jack, who works with the County Council in Bandon, now live in Clonakilty.

Jack proposed to Laura on Long Strand Beach in June 2022, after a coffee at the well-known Fish Basket and a stroll on the strand.

The couple were married at Dunmore House Hotel on December 28, 2024.

“Peter and Carol went above and beyond,” the couple said of the venue’s owners.

The groom, who has a passion for vintage cars, drove his own BMW E30 to the wedding.

Laura and Jack were supported on the day by their parents Martin and Breda Goggin, and John and Maeve Williams.

“We had all siblings in the bridal party and were lucky that many friends and family travelled from abroad for the wedding at Christmas,” they said, adding that some had travelled from as far away as Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Their bridesmaids included Nicki Goggin, Adrienne Arundel Sheehan and Mary Jo Williams, and their groomsmen were Emmet O’Gorman, Glen Roche, David Michael Morrisson, Jack Goggin and Ted Goggin.

The bride wore an off-the-shoulder gown from Memories in Cork.

“Carol Cotter from Spiritual Ceremonies did a fantastic job with the ceremony,” the couple said.

The couple said they were delighted that so many people could join them in celebrating their wedding day, with some travelling from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Photography on the day was by Laura and Benny Photography.

“It was a bonus that the weather was on our side and that we were able to get photographs outside by Laura and Benny. They were amazing and brought so much fun to our day,” the couple said.
