Like many Cork couples before them, and many since Julie Curtin and Dave Matthews’s love story began in An Bróg.

Julie, from Douglas, and Dave, from Passage West, first met at the Cork institution on Halloween night in 2013 and the rest, as they say, is history.

The couple received the keys to their home in July 2021 and got engaged on the very same day.

They were married at St Columba’s Church in Douglas on July 20, 2024.

After the ceremony, the couple held a reception for their guests at The Kingsley.

The bride’s father Trevor surprised Julie with a special appearance from Barney - the purple dinosaur!

“I was a big fan when I was a kid,” explained Julie.

As part of his speech, Trevor also sang I Loved Her First by Heartland.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the place from it,” the bride said.

During what the couple described as a musical night, both Dave and his uncle Michael also played some tunes with the band The Stars.

The couple’s first dance was to Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

Their DJ was Anthony Fleming, who also handled the videography for the evening.

The couple’s cake was by Trace of Cakes and even featured recreations of their two dogs.
