Could diggers run on electricity?

Off-road vehicles are the workhorses of industry – think tractors, diggers and cranes, scooping, moving, and stacking.

Typically, they run on diesel … but a Cork innovator wants to change all that by re-engineering these big industrial machines to run on electricity.

We find out all about it in the next episode of Heated on RTÉ1 on Tuesday at 7pm.

Also in the episode of the environmental series, branded uniforms and soiled workwear are really difficult to recycle, but one Dublin social enterprise – We Make Good – are doing just that, making good old and tired workwear with some enterprising remodelling.

Plus, a look at whether 3D House Printing can provide a solution to both the housing crisis and climate crisis.

Typically, new houses are made from concrete and cement – materials that generate a lot of CO2. What if there was a new way of building that was much faster than traditional methods – potentially helping the housing crisis – and that also produced less CO2, potentially helping the climate crisis? Could 3D printed houses catch on?
