Cork woman Laura O’Sullivan, from Bishopstown, moved to London 10 years ago to pursue her career, and ended up meeting the love of her life, Niall Vaughan.
Laura recalled: “I met Niall on Bumble, as you do these days, it was the photo of him wearing a Munster jersey that sealed our fate.
“A week later, we had our first date, in Camden.”
Niall was born and raised in London, but his mum is from Westport, Co. Mayo, and his dad is from Kealkill, Co. Cork.
“Although he sports a North London accent, Niall is a very proud Irish man, with the all important Irish passport!” said Laura.
Four years after they met, in March, 2023, Niall proposed during a trip to New York.
They got married on May 25, 2024, in Killarney, County Kerry.
Laura said: “I thought it would be difficult planning a wedding from London, but with the help of my parents, brother and our amazing suppliers, the planning was a dream.
We had our wedding ceremony in Killarney Cathedral, the same place my parents got married in 1987.
“It meant so much to me that my mum and dad got to watch us get married in the same spot, 37 years later.”
Their priest was Fr Ben Hodnett, who fittingly is the Parish Priest of Kealkill.
They had their reception in Muckross Park Hotel, with 160 guests.
Laura recalled: “We had a lot of guests travelling from London, so it was important to us to throw a big Irish wedding and show them what it is all about!
It poured rain all day, so we like to think our guests got to experience the authentic Ireland.
The couple mentioned all their amazing suppliers;
The wedding Dress was from Suzanne Neville, Knightsbridge, London.
Hair was by Pat O’Neill and make-up was by Sinead Murphy MUA
The groom’s tuxedo was from Paul Smith.
Photography and videography was by Gintas at Pilgrim Films.
Laura said: “Gintas was incredible, I really wanted photos outside, but the weather made it impossible all day.
Just after our dinner, there was a break in the rain, so Gintas loaded up the car, and drove us across to the National Park and managed to get the most beautiful shots.
Their band was Sax On Fire.
Flowers were by Tie The Knot Weddings, while the cake was by Trace of Cakes. The car was provided by Horans.
Photographs were by Pilgrim Films.
