HAVING grown up just 15 minutes apart in Ovens parish, it was only a matter of time before this couple’s paths crossed.
Rachel O’Sullivan recently married Danny O’Regan at Ovens Church, followed by a wedding reception at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island.
This week they feature as our Wedding of the Week.
Rachel recalled how they first met.
“We lived 15 minutes away from each other while growing up, but never went to the same schools. We had met briefly as children at a Holy Communion and again as teenagers which was where our story began. I was just 15 years old and Danny was 16.

We both grew up on farms in Ovens parish. Our fathers would have been friends through farming, which is how we met as young teens at Danny’s home farm.
The couple got engaged on July 21, 2020, when Danny took Rachel on a day trip to Johnstown Castle in Wexford and proposed at the lake in front of the castle.
They were married on July 21, 2023, at Ovens Church, followed by their reception at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Little Island.
“The ballroom looked like a picture from a fairytale book,” said Rachel. “We had the best day of our lives.”

The bride wore a dress from Cinderella’s Closet with fitting by Kate Alterationa in Ballincollig. Head piece was from Pearls and Lace online and shoes from Vows.
Make-up was by Sarah Dreeling of Kilkenny and the hairdresser was Elaine Murphy from Kilkenny.
Wedding rings were from Keanes Jewellers. Danny got his suit in Suit Distributers.
Enchanted Flowers did the flowers, while Ray and Irene Terry were their photographers and they were “absolutely phenomenal”.
Studio Plus, their videographer, were also “fantastic”.

Trace of Cakes did the three tier wedding cake.
Rachel said: “All the wedding cars are Danny’s pride and joy, his 1988 Toyota MR2, his 1999 Toyota Altezza and his 2017 320d BMW.”
The band and DJ was Witness This - who kept the floor full all night. The couple’s first dance was to I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz.
Rachel said: “The entire day is memorable to us from start to finish! But our time at Fota House and Gardens for our photos is one of the most memorable, we had so much fun with our photographers Ray and Irene and our videographers Brian and Liz.

"They made it so memorable and exciting for us with our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and we also had time just to be with each other for a short while as the day goes by so fast and is so busy.”
