A RANGE of new restaurants were officially launched at Cork Airport this week.

Renovation work has been taking place at the terminal in recent months revamping many of the kiosks, bars and the food hall.

The new food court will be located airside in the Departures area and is replacing the existing restaurant, which was located landside.

Alan Quinlan, former Irish and Munster rugby star, was at the airport this week to launch new facilities operated by multinational Aramark.

The company said many food producers from Cork will be supplying to the restaurants in the airport.

“It’s great to see such a variety of options available with lots of local ingredients.” Alan said.

“I spend a lot of time travelling through airports, particularly here at Cork Airport, and often find it difficult to eat healthily."

Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director of Cork Airport said: “Cork and the wider region provides some of Ireland’s best seafood and produce, so it is very exciting for us to be able to showcase this in Food Republic and in Kinsale Café Bar – an apt name considering the superb seafood that is produced in the historic fishing town and its environs. So far, passenger feedback has been really positive.”
