Cork’s 96FM to air Tubridy’s new radio show

CORK listeners to 96FM will be hearing a familiar voice early in the New Year, as it has been confirmed that Ryan Tubridy will be presenting a weekend radio show, from London, which is to be broadcast on the station alongside radio stations in Limerick and Dublin.

The former Late Late Show presenter had been anticipating a return to his RTÉ Radio 1 morning show in September, until the plug was pulled during the summer.

Now the presenter is to return to the airwaves, with a weekday show to be broadcast from London on Virgin Radio UK and a weekend show which will be broadcast on a number of Irish stations.

The star will follow The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio UK, and broadcast from 10am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Ryan will also be broadcasting live from London, simultaneously, on Dublin’s Q102.

He will also host a dedicated Irish weekend show, which is to be broadcast on Cork’s 96FM as well as Live 95FM and LMFM, which will mean that the former RTÉ presenter will be available to Irish audiences six days a week.

The presenter said that he “couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter”.

“New city, new stations, new beginnings,” he said. “I love radio and what a joy to be back.

“It’s been a pleasure getting to know my new friends at Virgin Radio, all of whom have been warm, engaging and very entertaining.

“It will be great to be back on the radio in the UK and across Ireland.

“And big thanks to the London Irish, who have made me feel so welcome in recent weeks.”

He said that it was a “big day” for his family and he hoped to make them proud. He also expressed his gratitude to those who had advised him “so well” recently.
