Video and Pictures: Cork Regatta 2017

A GLORIOUS Cork Regatta is still being celebrated by clubs throughout Cork.
And all signs are good for Cork rowing, as we continue to celebrate a remarkable 2017 season.
There was a good share of honours among the Cork clubs, and the conditions were fantastic for rowing.

Among the Cork winners were UCCRC/UCDRC/Skibbereen RC in men's senior 4x-, Skibbereen in at men's senior 2-, Skibbereen RC in men's senior 2x, Skibbereen at men's senior 1x (the O'Donovan magic, again, this one Paul), Shandon BC in men's lightweight 2-, Shandon (D Begley) in men's intermediate 1x, Cork BC in men's club 1 8+, Cork in men's club 1 4+, UCC in men's club 1 4X-, Skibbereen in men's club 1 2X, Shandon in men's club 2 4X+, Shandon in men's masters 8+, Lee Valley (T Corcoran) in men's masters 1X, Cork BC in men's J18A 2-, Shandon in men's J18B 2X, Shandon in men's J16 8+, Pres BC in men's J16 4+, Cork BC in men's J15 4X+, Cork BC (P Beechinor) in men's J15 1X, Fermoy RC in men's J14 4X+, Cork BC (P Leonard) in men's J14 1X, Skibbereen RC/UCCRC in women's senior 8+, Cork BC in women's senior 4+, Skibbereen/UCC in women's senior 4-, UCC/UCD in women's senior 2-, Skibbereen (O Hayes) in women's lightweight 1X, Shandon in women's intermediate 8+, Cork BC in women's intermediate 2X, Skibbereen (L Heaphy) in women's intermediate 1X, Skibbereen in women's club 2 8+, Shandno in women's club 2 4X+, Cork BC in women's J18A 8+, Lee RC in women's J18A 4X-, Lee in women's J18A 2X, Skibbereen (A Casey) in women's J18A 1X, Cork BC in women's J18B 4+, Shandon in women's J18B 4X+ and Lee (C Hayes) in women's J14 1X.

Great to see Cork rowing doing so well, considering Cork Regatta was part of the Grand League and drew competitors from all over Ireland. And particularly good to see junior rowing so strong in Cork.
UCD BC won the big title, men's senior eights, on the Sunday of the two day regatta, taking the prized Leader trophy back to the capital. They'll bring it back next year, and the battle to get it back to Cork will begin again.
