Tyson Fury says ‘the best is yet to come’ as he prepares for Mariusz Wach fight

Tyson Fury feels “the best is yet to come” as he prepares for his next fight against Mariusz Wach in Thailand on Friday.
The 37-year-old is gearing up for his 39th career fight and will take on Poland’s Wach in front of just 1,500 fans at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, which could be a warm-up for a much-anticipated bout with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua is also in action this weekend as he takes on Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia for his first fight since beating Jake Paul in December 2025.
Fury’s fight on Friday will not be broadcast live but will be shown as part of his Netflix documentary series, ‘At Home with the Furys’.
Fury has beaten the likes of Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder down the years, but he thinks the world still has not seen the best of him.
“I’ll always be a big name,” he told a press conference.
“I still feel the best is yet to come. I don’t feel like the world’s seen the best of Tyson Fury yet.
“I’ve been over here (Thailand) since December. Beautiful people, beautiful place. I feel at peace with everything whereas before I had a lot of pressure on me.
“I thrive better in a warmer climate and I feel rejuvenated.”
He also criticised WBC title-holder Agit Kabayel and WBA champion Murat Gassiev who became world champions after Usyk vacated his belts.
“All those men have been gifted world titles,” he added.
“How can you compare those men to me? Who has fought legends in the game and beat them for the world titles. Not possible. They’re in their own little group and I’m on top of the Empire State Building.”
Fury has fought in some of the biggest venues across the world but Friday’s fight in front of a small crowd will be something different for the former world heavyweight champion.
He fired shots at some sports stars claiming they would not perform in small venues because they think they are “bigger than they actually are”.
He added: “Which other world champion on my level – a high-level athlete on earth – would do a performance in front of a 1,500-seater in Pattaya?
“Do you think David Beckham would play professional football here, or someone famous like that? No way. They’re just not going to do it.
“A lot of these big celebrities and sports stars think they’re bigger than they actually are.”
Wach, 46, has lost 13 career fights but Fury believes he would still knock out Joshua’s opponent, Prenga.
He said: “This is a dangerous fight. He’s the same size as me, same weight as me. He’s been in there with the most elite level fighters.
“Mariusz Wach would put his fist through Joshua’s opponent, whoever he is, Mr Pringle man.
“This man would knock him spark out. He’s a real fighting man.”
