Katie McCabe to leave Arsenal at the end of the season

Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe will leave Arsenal at the end of the season after more than a decade in north London.

The Dubliner made over 300 appearances for the Gunners, winning the Women’s Super League and last season’s Women’s Champions League title.

McCabe’s contract expires this summer, and Arsenal confirmed that no extension agreement has been reached.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move elsewhere in the WSL, including champions Manchester City.

In a statement, Arsenal said: "The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland full-back departs with one FA Cup, one WSL title, three League Cups, one UEFA Women’s Champions League, and one FIFA Champions Cup to her name.

"Born in Kilnamanagh in 1995, Katie joined us in December 2015 with a reputation as one of the most exciting young players in Irish football. Her first trophy at Arsenal arrived at the end of the 2015/16 season in the form of the FA Cup, as Katie made an early impact at the club.

"Katie’s Arsenal career went from strength to strength in the years that followed, as she won the League Cup in 2017/18 followed by the WSL title in 2018/19. A strong connection with our supporters was formed, with Katie’s passion and spirited style cementing her place as a firm favourite on the terraces.

"Katie was voted our Player of the Season in 2020/21 and again in 2022/23, as we won another League Cup title and made a memorable run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, with Katie named in the tournament’s Team of the Season."

They said another League Cup win followed in 2024, while Katie played an integral role in their historic UEFA Women’s Champions League title in May 2025.

"The FIFA Champions Cup win in February 2026 means that Katie leaves Arsenal having won every available club trophy during her time here.

"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Katie all the best in her next chapter."
