GAA: Armagh beat Tyrone, Leitrim beat Sligo for first time in 15 years

Armagh have held off Tyrone in the preliminary round of the Ulster Football Championship.

Conor Turbitt sent over the match winning point as the 2024 All-Ireland champions held on for a 1-17 to 1-16 win after extra-time.

The Orchard County will face Fermanagh in the quarter-finals.

Neighbours Meath and Westmeath will meet in Tullamore in the quarter-finals of the Leinster Football Championship next weekend.

Westmeath powered into the last-eight with a 5-25 to 1-16 victory over Longford this afternoon.

Wicklow can look forward to a quarter-final clash with Dublin after their 2-15 to 1-7 win at Carlow.

Leitrim have beaten Sligo in the Connacht Football Championship for the first time in 15 years.

Barry McNulty scored 1-5 as Stephen Poacher's side won by 3-15 to 1-20.

Cork and Tipperary have booked their places in the semi-finals of the Munster Football Championship.

Sean O'Connor scored six-points in the second-half as Tipperary won by 0-15 to 1-7 at Waterford.

And Cork powered past Limerick by 4-16 to 1-16 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Galway have been crowned the new National Camogie League Division One A champions.

Carrie Dolan scored seven points as the reigning All-Ireland champions overcame Waterford by 0-13 to 0-11 at Nowlan Park.

Clare were 3-11 to 0-17 winners over Dublin in the One B decider, with Lorna McNamara notching 2-6 for the Banner.
