Shamrock Rovers finally got their title defence up and running in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division on Friday evening.

Teenage stars Michael Noonan and Adam Brennan provided the goals in a 2-0 win over St Pat's at Tallaght Stadium.

Drogheda United found a late equaliser for a 1-1 draw with rivals Dundalk in the Louth derby at Oriel Park.

Bohemians are top of the table, with Dawson Devoy the scorer in a 1-0 win away to Derry City.

A Harry Wood penalty rescued a point for Shelbourne, who drew 1-1 at home to Galway United.

Waterford and Sligo Rovers finished scoreless at the RSC.


In the First Division, Cork City ran out 4-1 winners at Wexford.

Finn Harps beat UCD 2-1,

It also finished Kerry 0 Athlone Town 1 and Treaty United 0 Bray Wanderers 1.
