Celtic striker Johnny Kenny has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Hungary.

Kenny has been on form for Celtic since Martin O'Neill took over as temporary manager, with three goals since his arrival.

Evan Ferguson has been ruled out of the Portugal game on Thursday, but remains in contention to face Hungary on Sunday as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Ferguson suffered an ankle injury in Roma's 2-1 Serie A victory over Parma on the 29th of October.

Hibernian midfielder Jamie McGrath has also been recalled to the squad, with Bristol City's Mark Skyes out of both games with a shin injury.

McGrath last appeared for Ireland in the 2-1 away win against Finland in Helsinki in October 2024.
