Celtic striker Johnny Kenny has been called up to the Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers following an injury to Troy Parrott.

Parrott's injury or his period of recovery have not been revealed by the FAI or his Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.

Kenny has scored one goal so far this season for Celtic, but was not part of the squad to face Rangers on Sunday.

The 22-year-old scored 20 goals for Shamrock Rovers during his second loan stint with the Tallaght club last season.

Adam Idah and Chiedozie Ogbene have missed training on Monday as they seek moves away on deadline day.

Idah looks set to leave Celtic after a difficult start to the season which saw the Scottish champions fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Ogbene has just returned from a long-term injury, with Kieran McKenna hinting at the weekend he may go out on loan for more game time.

Ireland are at home to Hungary at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday and away to Armenia on Tuesday, September 9th.
