European Indoor Athletics: Sarah Lavin wins 60m hurdles heat with season's best time

The European Athletics Indoor Championships are up and running in Apeldoorn on Thursday evening.

Sarah Lavin won her 60-metre hurdles heat with a season's best time of 7.93 seconds. She goes into the semi-finals on Friday at lunchtime.

Earlier, Cathal Doyle missed out on a place in the final of the 1,500 metres, finishing ninth in his heat.

The Irish Independent reported that there was frustration for the Irish mixed 4 x 400m relay team of Conor Kelly, Phil Healy, Marcus Lawler, and Sharlene Mawdsley this evening.

The group finished fifth in the final as the Netherlands took the victory.
