Several sports clubs in Co Waterford have been vandalised in a number of anti-social incidents in the past two days.

Kilmacthomas GAA Club, Brideview United and Tallow GAA all had buildings vandalised since last Tuesday.

Kilmacthomas GAA Club said in a statement on their Facebook page that following repeated incidents of vandalism and antisocial behavior, the club will be installing security cameras and additional lighting on the grounds.

In the statement the Club said that they are “disappointed” to announce that, following “repeated incidents of vandalism and antisocial behavior affecting our club dugouts, we will be installing security cameras and additional lighting on the grounds.”

They continued: “We want our club to be a safe and welcoming space for everyone, and this measure is necessary to protect our facilities and ensure a positive environment for all.”

Meanwhile, dugouts at Brideview United and Tallow GAA were also vandalised.

Damage was caused to the dugout at the GAA grounds, while the soccer club's dugout was sprayed with graffiti.

Local Sinn Féin councillor in the area, Donnchadh Mulcahy, pleaded with members of the public “not to let them (perpetrators) get away with it (vandalism).

“In recent days, both Brideview Utd and Tallow Gaa dugouts have had some unwelcome visitors; both have been reported to the Gardaí.

“If you see anything or suspicious behaviour please report to the Gardaí or any committee members of both clubs.”
