Cliftonville footballer Michael Newberry has died at the age of 27.

The former Northern Ireland youth international - who started his career at Newcastle - won two Irish Premiership titles with Linfield.

In a statement, Cliftonville said they were "devastated" to learn about his "sudden" death.

Monday night's games involving his old clubs have been postponed.

Newberry played as a defender and began his career at Newcastle United, before spells in Iceland with Víkingur Ólafsvík and in Northern Ireland with Linfield and Cliftonville.

He was born in England and represented Northern Ireland internationally at youth level.
