Sharlene Mawdsley made a winning return to the track on Monday night in her first outing since the Paris Olympics.

The European relay medalist emerged victorious in the Women’s 400-metres at the Galà dei Castelli in Switzerland, with a time of 51.35 seconds.

Mawdsley finished ahead of Susanne Gogl-Walli, and Lieke Klaver who finished third.

Mawdsley’s performance came after a short break following the Olympics, where she anchored the women’s 4x400m relay that finished fourth, just outside the medals.

Luke McCann set a new personal best in placing second in the men’s 800-metres there.

McCann was just eight-tenths of a second off Mark English’s national record, with English finishing third in the same race.

Sarah Lavin was fifth in a 100-metres hurdles race won by Olympic bronze medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
