Rocco Vata has joined Watford from Celtic on a four-year contract with the option of an additional season.

The 19-year-old forward, son of former Hoops player Rudi Vata, came through the youth system at Parkhead and made six appearances for the first team, scoring once, in a 5-0 Scottish Gas Scottish Cup win over Buckie Thistle in January.

The Sky Bet Championship Hornets, who announced the signing on Friday, will be liable to pay training compensation to Celtic under FIFA regulations.

Born in Scotland, Vata can choose to represent either Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Montenegro or Albania, with his father winning 59 caps for the latter nation.

So far, he has opted to play for the Republic and has risen through the age groups, most recently featuring for the under-21s.
