Four men have been arrested in an investigation into an organised burglary gang on the outskirts of Dublin.

Gardaí said they arrested the four following a managed containment operation on the M50 in west Dublin on Thursday morning.

“At approximately 10.30am this morning, gardaí conducted a managed containment operation when they stopped the vehicle and arrested four men, three aged in 20s and one 40s,” a Garda spokesperson said.

They said it is believed the group used the car, a silver coloured 2006 Volvo S40, in a number of burglaries and similar incidents nationwide.

They added the car was searched and a number of housebreaking implements, including gloves and face coverings, were seized.

“The four men were all arrested at the scene and are currently detained under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Garda stations in the Dublin region,” they said.

“Gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have seen this vehicle in their area.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dublin Crime Response Team on 01 666 9896, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
