A man is receiving medical treatment following a shark bite near Ardmore, Co Waterford.

At approximately 4.15pm on Tuesday, the Irish Coast Guard’s Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin responded to a call-out.

A man on board a small fishing vessel south of Ardmore reportedly suffered a leg injury following a bite from a shark.

Rescue 117 helicopter was tasked to the scene.

Ballycotton RNLI and Youghal RNLI also responded to the incident

Rescue 117 transferred the man to Cork University Hospital (CUH) and handed over care to the HSE.
