A moped driver has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run with a car in Cork City.

The crash happened in Blackpool on the North City Link Road, at the junction of Thomas Davis bridge at 5:30pm on Friday.

They were taken to Cork University Hospital.

The driver of the car - a grey Skoda estate - failed to remain at the scene.

Anyone with information about the collision is being asked to contact Gardaí.
