Tributes to teenage girl who died 11 days after being critically injured

Tributes are being paid to a teenage girl described as “lighting up any room” who died 11 days after being seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Co Wexford.
Sophie Caulfield (14) from Cluain Huighead, New Ross, suffered critical injuries after a road traffic collision in Sheastown, Wellingtonbridge, at 6.20am on Wednesday, July 8th.
The young girl was initially taken to Wexford General Hospital before being transferred to Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Temple Street Children’s Hospital. She died on Sunday.
Her family has asked mourners to wear bright and colourful clothing in celebration of her life, while donations in her memory can be made to Temple Street Children's Hospital.
One mourner said on the death notice website RIP.ie: “ Sophie was an amazing young girl, and she would light up any room. We will always have Sophie in our hearts and memories.”
Another who expressed their sympathies added that the teenager was “such a funny, kind, beautiful and bright girl”.
Funeral arrangements are due to be announced later on Monday.
She is survived by her parents, Derek and Paula; her sister, Mikayla; and her brother, Cian.
