A man has been arrested in connection with the serious assault of another man on Hawkins Street in Dublin in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident happened at 12:20 am, with the victim in critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s as part of this investigation, and he has since been charged.

He is due to appear before Dublin District Court (Court No. 3) at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Monday morning.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
