Kilkenny pub worker hospitalised following alleged assault

A staff member working in a Kilkenny city pub has been hospitalised and another arrested following an alleged assault in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at 1:30am when the man, aged in his 40s, who was a member of the security personnel, attempted to intervene when a customer allegedly became agitated.

The injured man was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital due to suffering a serious injury to his ear.

He has since been transferred to St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin where he will have to undergo reconstructive surgery.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene, has since been charged and is due to appear before Kilkenny District Court on July 7th.
