The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has confirmed that of the over 600 officers currently working for the service, there are no women.

The Irish Mail on Sunday reports that 25 women have qualified as mechanics over the last five years, representing a significant increase on the previous five years.

Most NCT jobs require at least two years' experience as a qualified mechanic in a garage.
