A man in his 70s has been arrested after a petrol bomb was thrown at a pub in Sligo town on Wednesday night.

A fire broke out at Connolly's pub on Holborn Street after the device landed at the pub entrance at around 11pm.

There were customers inside when the fire broke out; however, no injuries have been reported, according to gardaí.

The area remains sealed off on Thursday morning.

Gardaí have said investigations are continuing.
