Teenager arrested following fatal assault in Dublin city

A teenager has been arrested following the fatal assault on Qayyum Balogun.
He was arrested earlier on Friday and can be held for up to 24 hours. He is currently being detained at a garda station in Dublin.
Investigations are continuing.
It comes as Joshua Brodericks, of Glenn Dara, Rahoon in Galway, also faces two counts of violent disorder arising from incidents in the early hours of Monday morning.
The court heard the events began after a large group, including Joshua Brodericks, was asked to leave a late-night event at Bewley’s café on Grafton Street.
After leaving the venue, Mr Brodericks is alleged to have led a “14-man pack” in a relentless chase of 21-year-old Qayyum Balogun and his friends through Dublin city centre.
Garda Will McCarthy claimed Mr Balogun was surrounded and violently attacked by six men on Clarendon Street, where he suffered fatal stab wounds.
Mr Brodericks is not accused of any offence directly relating to his death, but Garda McCarthy claimed his actions were the “catastrophic catalyst” for his murder
He is accused of later assaulting a man and a woman on nearby Grafton Street, and he also faces two counts of violent disorder. The judge granted him bail subject to several strict conditions.
