A man in his 50s has been injured in a shooting at a residence in Co Wexford.

The incident occurred in the Coolcotts area of Wexford Town at around 11.30pm on Saturday.

The man was taken to Wexford General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An incident room has been established at Wexford Garda Station, with a senior investigating officer appointed to lead the investigation.

The scene is preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses of the incident to contact them.

Anyone who was in Coolcotts and the adjoining area between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday and who may have information has been asked to contact investigating gardaí.

Anyone with camera footage, including dash cam, has also been asked to make their footage available.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on (053) 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing, a garda statement said.
