A man and a woman have been arrested after revenue officers seized cannabis worth an estimated €580,000 at Shannon Airport on Monday.

The 29kg of cannabis was discovered concealed within the baggage of the two passengers, who had disembarked a flight originating from Thailand.

They were subsequently arrested by gardaí and are being detained at a garda station in Co Clare.

Investigations are ongoing.
