A postmortem examination has been carried out on the body of a woman who was found dead with the body of a baby girl in Co Tipperary on Friday.

Gardaí say the woman, in her 30s, was found with the infant in a home in Carrick-on-Suir.

The results of the woman’s postmortem examination are not being released for “operational reasons”.

The postmortem examination of the child is due to take place early next week, and the results will also not be released.

Gardaí say they are focused on preparing a file for the coroner.

It is understood the incident was initially being treated as a medical tragedy.
