Gardaí investigating after body of man (30s) discovered in Castlebar

The body of a man in his 30s has been discovered in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's sudden death, after being alerted shortly after 9am on Thursday, when the man was found unresponsive at a residential property.

He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and the scene remains preserved.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged, and the outcome will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

Investigations are ongoing, a garda statement said.
