A man and a woman have been arrested after gardaí recovered two semi-automatic pistols, ammunition, and a replica grenade during a search at a residential property in Wicklow.

Gardaí from Baltinglass and Bray, supported by the Armed Support Unit (ASU), searched the property near Baltinglass on Monday.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EODS) attended the scene. A cordon was put in place for a period of time, but the area has since been declared safe.

The man, aged in his 3os, and the woman, aged in her late 20s, were arrested at the scene.

They are both currently detained at a Garda station in Wicklow under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

All firearms will be subject to further technical and ballistic analysis.#
