193 new gardaí were attested as sworn members of An Garda Síochana on Friday, with the largest number being allocated to the Dublin region.

141 of the newly sworn gardaí will take on operational responsibilities in the Dublin region.

27 were allocated to the Eastern region, 14 to the Southern region, and 11 to the North Western region.

The 193 new members bring the total number of sworn gardaí up to 14,661.

The new group is made up of 134 men and 59 women.

Five of the new gardaí were born outside of the State, each coming from either England, Italy, Poland, or Spain.
