A man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Goleen, Co. Cork, on Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred off the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barlycove at 11 am.

A man in his 20s was driving a motorcycle when it collided with a pole.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed from the scene, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road off the R591, known locally as the Dunmanus Road/Coast Road to Barleycove, remains closed at this time to facilitate an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact them. Any road users who were travelling in the area between 10:45 am and 11:15 am are asked to make contact with investigating gardaí.

Anyone with camera footage (including mobile phone or dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
