A pedestrian in his 80s was airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car on Earl Street, Co Longford, on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí said the man's condition remains critical.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at around 10am.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was airlifted to Beaumont for treatment of serious injuries.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9:45am and 10:15am on Tuesday are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
