A man has been arrested after €5.2 million of cannabis was seized as part of a joint operation with the PSNI.

Following the stop and search of a lorry travelling from Scotland to Larne Harbour, detectives located and seized suspected cannabis concealed within a large number of boxes.

A man aged in his 50s was arrested at the scene and is being detained at a police station in the North.

The operation was carried out by the Cross Border Joint Agency Task Force, led by senior officers from An Garda Síochána, the PSNI and other key partner agencies, including Revenue Services on both sides of the border.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
