Three injured, one seriously, after road crash in Limerick

A young man is in a serious condition in hospital, after a van he was travelling in was involved in a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Limerick city centre on Saturday morning.
The male, believed to be in his late teens, was travelling in the caddy van with two other males when, it is understood, it collided with a number of parked cars.
The van overturned and came to a rest on its roof.
The collision occurred around 5am at the R445, Dublin Road, Limerick.
The seriously injured teen, who is believed to have been a passenger, was ejected from the van in the collision.
He was attended to by paramedics the scene and taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick (UHL).
The other two males were also taken from the scene by ambulance to UHL where they were being treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí have closed off the roadway between the Parkway roundabout and Park Road at Dublin Road.
A Garda forensic collision investigator has been notified and will perform a forensic examination at the scene.
The car involved in the collision remains in its roof at the scene.
Gardaí at Henry Street Garda Station are investigating.
A Garda spokesman said: “Shortly before 5am on Saturday, 18th April 2026, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision involving a van on the R445 Dublin Road in Limerick.”
“The three occupants of the van— all male and aged in their mid teens, late teens and 20s—were transported to University Hospital Limerick for medical assessment following the collision. The male in his 20s sustained serious injuries.”
“The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are currently in effect.”
“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on Dublin Road, Limerick City, at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.”
