Police probe suspected arson attack at Coleraine apartment block

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after a number of residents were rescued from an apartment block in Coleraine.

A fire was reported shortly before 1am on Wednesday morning at the block in Society Street.

The blaze was believed to have started in a communal area inside the flats.

Fire service personnel attended and removed a number of trapped individuals from the building before extinguishing the blaze.

All other occupants were evacuated from their flats until it was deemed safe to return and there were no reports of any injuries.

Any witnesses to suspicious activity in the area are urged to contact police.
