A man in his 30s has been seriously injured in an alleged assault in Limerick city.

It occurred in the Old Cratloe Road area of the city at around 10.30am last Saturday, March 28th.

The man received treatment at St John's Hospital and University Hospital Limerick.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.

Anyone who was in Limerick city in the vicinity of the Shannonvale estate, the Old Cratloe Road and Brookville Avenue on Saturday March 28th between 10am and 11am, who may have video footage, including dashcam, has been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.

Gardaí said they are particularly interested in anyone who may have interacted with or seen a VW Golf car travelling in the area at the time.

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact Mayorstone Garda Station on (061) 456980, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
