A Dublin woman has been sent forward for trial on charges of providing bogus information in passport applications and making a misleading statement for a PPS number.

Marie McCormack, 62, of Offington Avenue, Sutton, Dublin 13, had a book of evidence served on her on Friday at Dublin District Court.

She is accused of providing false or misleading information in passport applications between June 6th and July 4th, 2012, and on November 3rd, 2022, at Passport Office, Stephenstown, Balbriggan, Co Dublin.

These two charges are under section 20 of the Passports Act 2008.

According to her third charge, on May 21st, 2012, at Intreo Centre, Parnell St, Dublin 1, for the allocation and issue of a personal public service number (PPS), she made a statement or representation, oral or written, which she knew to be false or misleading in any material respect, or knowingly concealed any material fact.

It is an offence contrary to section 262A (1) of The Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005

The Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the case proceed to trial on indictment.

Judge Gerard Jones granted a return for trial order, sending her forward to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where the case will be listed for mention on April 29 next.

She has yet to enter a plea.

Judge Jones warned her to notify prosecutors within 14 days if she intends to rely on an alibi in her defence.

She was remanded on bail, having earlier surrendered her passport and undertaking not to apply for new travel documents. Legal aid was granted.
