A man in his 30 has died in a suspected stabbing incident in Cork on Monday evening.

It is understood that the man managed to make his way back to his apartment in Camden Court in Carroll’s Quay, having been stabbed in the city at about 7.50pm.

Emergency services were called to the property, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by a local GP.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination, and the man's remains have been moved to Cork University Hospital.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted, and a postmortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation into the death.

A family liaison officer has been assigned to the family.

Gardaí have commenced door-to-door inquiries in the area, and CCTV from the area will also be harvested.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly motorists in the area at the time.

Anyone who was in the Devonshire Street, Knapps Square, and Lower John Street areas of Cork city on Monday, March 16th, between 7.30pm and 9pm, and who may have camera footage, including home security and dashcam, has been asked to make it available to gardaí.
