A woman brandishing an imitation firearm has threatened staff in Cork city on Sunday evening.

The reported robbery took place around 10.15pm in Ballincollig.

Later that evening, a separate robbery took place in Ballincollig, where a woman brandishing an implement threatened an individual, and reportedly took a quantity of cash.

Gardaí said that an imitation firearm and a number of bladed implements have been recovered, and the firearm will be subject to ballistic analysis.

No injuries were reported at the time.

A woman in her 40s has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda Station in the Co Cork area.

An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

Any person who was travelling in the Ballincollig, Cork City area between 9:30pm and 10:30pm is asked to contact investigating gardaí.

Additionally, road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available.

Investigations are ongoing.
